SELECTING A BREEDER
When selecting a breeder, ensure both parents of the litter are FCI registered in their home country or with the Federacion Canofilia de Puerto Rico (FCPR). The breeder will provide you with an FCI Export Pedigree if you're getting a pup from abroad or a registration pedigree from the FCPR if the pup is born in United States. Many breeders of White Shepherds in the United States will claim they are selling you a Berger Blanc Suisse/White Swiss Shepherd when in fact the dam and sire may not be registered with the FCPR. They might tell you that the parents of the prospective offspring qualify to be BBS/WSSD because they have three generations of white shepherds. Remember: if the breeder is not registering the parents with the FCPR then you will not be able to get your puppy registered as a BBS/WSSD.

Questions to evaluate a responsible breeder:
a) Are both parents registered with the FCPR?
(Request proof via official registration document if there is any question)
b) What health tests have the parents undergone?
(Request official documents if there is any question)
d) How old are your females when they have their first litter?
e) How many litters does each of your females have per year?
f) What is your health warrantee?
g) What registration papers will be provided for my puppy?
